Thai Lesson? : How much and How many?

There are many students confused about making Questions by using  How much? and How many?


So this post, I would like to present about how to use them.

1. How many?

in Thai say  กี่ gii 

Use with Classifier 

How many.....Noun...?      =     ..Noun....   กี่ (gii) + Classifier.  

For example  

How many car do you have?

Khun mii rot gii khan?

คุณ มี รถ กี่ คัน

คัน (khan) is classifier of car.

2. How much?

in Thai say  Thaorai?   เท่าไหร่

Thaorai also use for asking How + adj?

such as... How long?  How far?  How tall?

For example   How tall are you?

Khun suung thaorai?

คุณสูงเท่าไหร่ 

สูง (suung) tall

Thai Comparison

.......A..... is more delicious than .....B.....
...A........ อร่อยกว่า ....B.....
....A....... aroi gwaa ....B......


...C..... is bigger than ...D....
...C..... ใหญ่กว่า ....D.....
...C......yai gwaa...D.......


just put "gwaa" กว่า follow the adj to change 


dee --good,    dee gwaa --- better (than)
suay -- beautiful  suay gwaa - more beautiful (than)




A is the most delicious.
A อร่อย ที่สุด
A aroi thiisut.


B is the biggest.
B yai thiisut.




just put  "thiisut" ที่สุด follow adj.. changing 


suay - beautiful.. 
suay thiisut - the most beautiful.

this post I would like to continue Thai for Beginner about "Number of Time"

 time - weelaa (เวลา)

...don't have time = mai mii weelaa ไม่มีเวลา
....waste time = sia weelaa เสียเวลา

...take time/spend time  = chai weelaa ใช้เวลา 


number of time, classifier of time = khrang ครั้ง


1 time = 1 khrang
2 times = 2 khrang
3 times = 3 khrang
etc


sometime - baang krang บางครั้ง
this time - krang nii ครั้งนี้
next time - khrang naa ครั้งหน้า
last time - khran thii laew ครั้งที่แล้ว
